I confess I usually think in generalities when
considering the week God Created all things. I think of His saying:
"earth!", and there it was, "land-based animals!", and the world was full of
them, "light!", and everything was bathed in it. I have considered
the awesome detail HE used in making man. A number of Bible characters did
also, such as David, Job, Jeremiah, etc. We sometimes stop and ponder the
extremely precise way our God made our eyes, nerves, heart,
brain, and all the other wonderful mechanics HE put into us. I was
reminded, though, that God doesn't do anything without
precise plans as I read the last few chapters of Job
again. The Words God gives us are quite specific when HE asks Job:
"Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its
measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the
line upon it? To what were its foundations
fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, ----
(and when HE created the seas) When I fixed My limit
for it, And set bars and doors; When I said, 'This far you may come, but no
farther, And here your proud waves must stop. ----"Where
is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is
its place, That you may take it to its territory, That you may
know the paths to its home. By what way is light
diffused, Or the east wind scattered over the
earth? "Who has divided a channel for the overflowing
water, Or a path for the thunderbolt,---- Do you know
the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over
the earth? (Job 38:4-6, 10-11, 19-20, 24-25)
God does not "jabber" like men do when
talking about something we've done. HE does not "embellish" His accounts
to make Himself look better. HE does not lie. HE only speaks
the complete truth. Did you notice the architectural, building,
and scientific terms HE used in the few verses above? The earth is not
just spinning freely in space; HE laid a foundation and set it
upon that. HE did not just make a vague "round thing"; HE determined
very precise measurements for it and then made
it. HE took His celestial "tape measure" and stretched its
line over the earth HE made. HE anchored the earth by
fastening it on its foundations. HE made
limits (boundaries) for the vast oceans. HE established a
dwelling for light and darkness, they are not
just ethereal wisps floating around in creation, but have definitive
shape and limits. From the largest to the tiniest element in all of
creation, all have
extremely precise definition and function, occupying a
specific niche they were designed for. God is
not an imprecise Being, but HE is precise down
to, not just the hairs on your head, but to each of the smallest sub-microscopic
elements of every hair on your head. HE is precise down
to the smallest sub-microscopic element of the tiny cilia (those hair-like
projections cells use to move around in the body) in the nose of a water buffalo
in VietNam, precise down to the tiniest element of a grain of
dust in a meteor flying through the very farthest reaches of space, and
precise in every single element of everything in-between.
There is no vagueness to the size, shape, or function of any of
those things, or the things they help make up.
Why does this matter? It matters because it helps us
to realize afresh the awesomeness of our precise God,
and if our God is so precise, we must be reminded there is
no vagueness in His plan for our lives as His children.
Remember, For I know the thoughts (literally- plans, or intentions)
that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11) God is so
precise there is no room for error or accident.
HE has made our foundations sure. What HE has purposed for you, will come about! What HE has
promised you, will be! Our precise God has
planned, measured, created, and is working all the
components of our lives together. They come with, not a lifetime, but an
eternal guarantee. The 1956 hit song, "Que sera, sera"
(which, by the way, is incorrect grammar) which we translate as "whatever will
be, will be", should be worded "quel Dieu dit soyez, soyez" (What God
says will be, will be)!!!! Our God is perfectly
precise.
Trust Him. Praise Him. Rejoice in His plans for
you.
