Subject: Wake up, little Suzie, wake up!

Don and Phil Everly, a very popular singing duet beginning in the 1950's (still performing today- you can read about them at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Everly_Brothers ) had one of their many hits titled, "Wake up, little Suzie!"  The gist of the song is that a dating couple went to a drive-in movie, after the guy told the girl's mother he would have her home by ten pm, and fell asleep due to a dull movie plot.  He has awakened at 4 am and is trying to wake her up.  He knows they are in trouble, first, because her parents are going to be upset and secondly, because others hearing about it will ruin their reputations.  I know, when compared with today's lifestyle, this would sound so trivial, but it sure rings a bell with me (it happened to me) and many of my generation.  Parents hold God-given authority and are to be respected, and a good reputation is to be sought and kept.

This song came to mind as I thought of Jesus' promised "rapture" of the church, when HE calls believers up to Heaven, instantly and with no warning.  I picture the Body of believers being like "little Suzie" and her date, in that they realized they had messed up by falling asleep, instead of paying attention to the promised time.  I believe we have fallen asleep also, not realizing the imminency of the Rapture.  Imagine doing any number of the things Christians do, but shouldn't, one second, and the next second finding yourself face to face with Jesus, HE Who will judge all.  That would be a real "wake up call."   Being absolutely honest, how much time do you spend on worldly things, and how much time do you spend on things of God, I mean truly focused on serving or being with Him and doing what HE wants?  How often are you in such a state that His appearing would be a "rude awakening" to you, because of what you are doing, saying, or thinking, or, where you are?  If you tell the truth, "God-time" is probably infinitesimal compared to "world-time."  (It's true of me, I know)  Time organization teachers tell us to prioritize, by order of importance, a schedule for our days and then take care of the highest priority items before we spend time on the lower ones.  Wake up, little Suzie, wake up!  Which is of the highest priority to you, serving yourself, or, serving God?  Wake up, little Suzie, wake up!  Do you realize there are no Scriptures that must be fulfilled before the Rapture can occur?  Wake up, little Suzie, wake up!  Do you see the signs of the times around us, which look very much like the "birth pangs" for what the Bible tells us will be happening during the Tribulation period, which I believe (along with millions of other believers) will begin immediately after the Rapture?  Wake up, little Suzie, wake up!

Jesus is coming soon, the trumpet may sound at any time.  Don't be lulled to sleep by the world and its cares.  Wake up, little Suzie, wake up!  It will be better than any Christmas morning you have ever seen, and it won't be over at the end of day.  Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
